Each residence hall is staffed with a team of 6-9 Resident Assistants and one Residence Hall Director. First Year halls also have a Community Advocate assigned for each floor.
Each Residence Hall has a RA duty phone number assigned to it in the event that an emergency situation arises (see Frequently Used Phone Numbers). The R.A. on duty can be reached between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., seven days a week, during the academic year.
For more information about our residence hall staff, please go to http://web.plattsburgh.edu/studentlife/housing/staff.php Accessing the Residence Halls
Residence hall exterior doors are secured 24 hours a day. Access to residence halls is accomplished by use of the student’s official identification card through a proximity reader. Students will have access to their assigned residence hall 24 hours a day. Access to other campus residence halls will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight. Be sure to carry your card whenever you leave the residence hall. All student rooms have combination locks on bedroom doors so that there are no hassles of forgetting or losing your keys when you live in residence halls.
Each student room is equipped with cable hookup. Residents have free access to the channels offered by the campus. Housing & Residence Life solicits input from current residents to select channels. CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, 7 HBOs, MTV, Comedy Central and PSTV, the student operated campus station are a few of the channels that have been selected in the past.
Each student room on campus is equipped with a telephone jack and unlimited free access to all local and on-campus telephone numbers and the emergency 911 service. All resident students are assigned a personal billing number (PBN) by the Telecommunications Office. This number allows students to make off-campus and long distance calls from any campus telephone and records the number of minutes used. You will receive a bill if you go over 400 minutes each month at your residence hall mailbox.
All student rooms have access to our campus network and to the Internet, through both high-speed wired (Ethernet) ports and wireless services.
