Smart Phones Document Road Kill Sightings

A faculty member in the Center for Earth and Environmental Science never met road kill she didn’t like. Or at least want to acknowledge.

For Assistant Professor Danielle Garneau, whose area of expertise is ecology, road kill provides an opportunity to learn about wildlife and pinpoint migratory patterns, invasive species, predatory patterns and more. Read more.

Looking Up: Society Brings Heavens to Earth

Benjamin Ponce is hooked on astronomy.

The president of the Galilean Society, SUNY Plattsburgh’s astronomy club, took a trip to the International Planetarium Society Conference this summer. There, he and the club’s Acting Vice President Levi Martinez saw presentations on the discovery of the Higgs boson, exo-planet exploration and the use of planetariums in subjects besides astronomy. Read more.

New Holocaust Gallery to Be Named After Douglas and Evelyne Skopp

A new permanent gallery in Feinberg Library will ensure that the Holocaust will never be forgotten at SUNY Plattsburgh.

The Douglas and Evelyne Skopp Holocaust Memorial Gallery will be dedicated in a 4 p.m. ceremony and reception Monday, Nov. 5. It is being named after Professor Emeritus and College Historian Douglas Skopp and his wife, Evelyne, a former assistant registrar at the college. Read more.
