- About Plattsburgh
As an alumnus or alumna, your voice can deliver a unique message to prospective students. Only you can speak with authority of your experience a Plattsburgh State experience - from the standpoint of success.
That is because alumni are really our living success stories. By reaching out individually to prospective students and telling them about the Plattsburgh "story", you are helping keep alive past traditions and present realities for emerging generations of students. Your Plattsburgh story is worth sharing. Many students and families will appreciate your experience, knowledge, and advice.
Take Perry Cuocci for example. He's a 1986 Plattsburgh State graduate who is proud of his alma mater and the foundation it gave him to pursue the career he loves. Perry's extended family sees his joy and listens to him when he tells his Plattsburgh State story. Now, his niece, Christina Meier, has chosen to attend Plattsburgh State as a freshman in the Fall of 2004. And his nephew, high school junior Daniel Eisenberg, is starting to look at colleges and has Plattsburgh State in his sights.
There are endless ways in which alumni can help to tell the Plattsburgh story. Perhaps you are already reaching out to prospective students.
Would you consider involving yourself now in a specific program? Such as writing congratulatory notes to accepted students or participating in an Alumni Admissions receptions. In this way, you will not only be telling something of your own experience as a former student and sharing how your alma mater has helped you personally and professionally, but you will also help prospective students learn the most up-to-date facts about today's Plattsburgh experience.
Your alumni voice is irreplaceable and is very important to the future vitality of Plattsburgh. There is simply no substitute for it. It is only our alumni who can truly "pass the torch" to Plattsburgh's future scholars - to tomorrow's graduates, citizens, and alumni.
