Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Joseph Janetti, my first Psych professor, was a great help to me during my freshman year. I had many unpredicted personal issues come up, and he was incredibly understanding about each and every one of them. We continue to keep in contact today, as he is one of the first professors that made me truly feel welcomed and important here at SUNY Plattsburgh.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Working in a freshman dorm has allowed for many learning opportunities to come. My team has become my family, and I received one of the best support systems I've ever had living in this building. Between my all-female residents and the partners in this building, I have learned and grown so much from this experience and I will be forever thankful for this opportunity. My other favorite experience I had was during my Alternative Spring Break trip during my freshman year. Working with Habitat for Humanity really changed my life to say the least. Meeting the families and building their homes was heart wrenching, but nonetheless, their gratefulness outweighed every tear that was shed. It's a wonderful feeling to know that I made a difference in someone's life.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the "Blue Room," or the Flynt Commons area. It is such a neat place to go and do work and the atmosphere is super relaxing. When you need a study break, Tim Horton's is right there to cheer you up with an Ice Capp! (My personal guilty pleasure!)

What is great or unique about your major? I like my major because it brings a sense of pride. In other majors, it is easy to get something wrong and feel badly about it. In Mathematics, I feel that it is easy to get something wrong and be okay with it. Mathematics is a major that people learn by making mistakes and practicing.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? By far, Nancy Parri is the most influential professor that I have had thus far. She teaches Organic/Biochemistry for Nursing students making a class that many thought to be dreadful, and turning it to be an exciting course. She would do anything to help her students to understand a concept, whether it be staying late at review class every week (‘Coffee and Chemistry’), coming up with jokes to break the frustration, or jump on a table to prove a point. My professor is someone who I will never forget and who I know I will be in contact with in my years at SUNY Plattsburgh.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? One of my favorite experiences thus far was when a few of the resident buildings came together to create a barbeque for the residents. It was a beautiful day and everything felt perfect; I jumped into a game of Frisbee that was going on outside of my building and had a great time playing outside in the beautiful weather with new people that I was able to meet. I stayed outside tossing a Frisbee for 5 hours that day and it was just a day I won’t forget.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? One of my favorite spots on campus is the ledge by the Hawkins pond. When the weather is nice, I like to sit outside and do my homework, or just wait between classes. It’s just a beautiful and serene place.

It has given me a sense of pride in who I am and how far I've made it here at SUNY Plattsburgh.

I look forward to taking her Neuroscience class in the spring semester of this year.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I have had so many great experiences that it really is too hard to pinpoint one. From meeting all new people, to being able to TA Dr. Braje's Cognitive Psychology class, my experiences have all been great!

What is great or unique about your major? The TV/Video Production major is different because it affords the opportunity to be very creative. There is only so much you can learn from a book when it comes to taping events. The rest comes from experience and trying new things. What makes it unique is that while there are rules to how you should compose a shot, you can break them to make something better and completely different from what was previously considered the norm.
Who is your favorite professor and why? My favorite Professor would have to be Dr. Jin Kim because he is incredibly knowledgeable on his subject. You can tell he loves teaching and imparting his experience in the field to students. Also, because he comes from Korea, he has a different perspective on things, making you think more as a student. He also has a great sense of humor.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I honestly don't think I could pick a single professor that has influenced my college career. All the professors I've taken classes with in the Communications and Journalism department have helped me develop a variety of skills that have been instrumental in my growth as a student. From Colleen Lemza and Jonathan Slater's expertise in public relations, to Ron Davis's helpful advice and guidance in journalism, I have been able to develop such great knowledge and confidence from them and all my professors.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I have really enjoyed working as an Ambassador for SUNY Plattsburgh. I know I had a tough time choosing colleges and acquiring information about the schools I was deciding between, so it's been really nice to help high school students by giving any advice or information about SUNY Plattsburgh that I can provide. Serving as an ambassador, I am also always reminded of the opportunities Plattsburgh has to offer and how happy I am that I chose to come here!
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? I have become a big fan of the new Saranac River Trail that runs through part of the campus. It's been a great way to go on peaceful walks beside the Saranac River on weekends or in between class. Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I think the most influential professor I have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh would have to be Mark Beatham. Being an Education Major, I had Dr. Beatham my sophomore year, and at first was very intimidated. However, after getting to know him, this all changed. He made me that teaching is something I really want to do, and encouraged me that I had what it took. Without him, I’m may not have been able to handle the stress and worries associated with being an Education Major.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Dr. Battigelli in the English department has been the most influential professor I've had at Plattsburgh. Since the first day of the writing class I took with her, her opinion has meant a lot to me. As a writer, she has challenged me to push myself. She implores me to never coast through school, but to keep working hard to hone my skills as much as possible. This type of advice has carried over to our discussions about more general topics, such as what I might do after graduation. She praises and compliments me where appropriate, but never fails to keep me sharp and determined.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I've had a bunch of favorite experiences at SUNY Plattsburgh, but one in particular that comes to mind is my time spent in the Honors Program, both as a student and a President of the Honors Student Association. As a member of the HSA, I've gotten to see how the Honors Center functions. I've also had the opportunity to plan several fun events for the students in the program. As a student, I've taken a few seminars, the most memorable being Alienation, Liberation, and the Discovery of Zen. My learning in the seminar went beyond the classroom; I found myself thinking about Zen every day as a result of the conversations I had with the other students in the class.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Hands down Marco Turco! This man is amazing and I recommend him to everyone. I took one of his classes in the fall of my sophomore year and loved it. My goal is to take every class he offers. I have taken 3 already and have 1 more to go. He is a full-time farmer, part-time professor with his doctorate. He is originally from Italy and has fought in numerous African Wars. This man has changed learning for me. I have never been so enthusiastic about attending class, until I met Mr. Turco. His sole goal is for his students to take away something from his lessons. All of his classes are very interactive. He teaches us things that most American's don't know, but should. This is because of what our media hides from us; thus creating an ignorant nation. His classes have changed me as a person and have increased my interest in foreign affairs, in Africa especially.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I love any experience that I share with kids in my major. HRTM is such a fun major and the professors here are just as excited to teach about the business as we are to learn it. The classes are fun and interesting and everyone in my major is so friendly. I also enjoy any moment at the gym with my trainer, Matt and any extra classes that I participate in there. In conclusion I love Plattsburgh because there is so much to do here inside and outside. We are surrounded by the Adirondacks and two beautiful bodies of water (that I fish on).
