Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Joseph Janetti, my first Psych professor, was a great help to me during my freshman year. I had many unpredicted personal issues come up, and he was incredibly understanding about each and every one of them. We continue to keep in contact today, as he is one of the first professors that made me truly feel welcomed and important here at SUNY Plattsburgh.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Working in a freshman dorm has allowed for many learning opportunities to come. My team has become my family, and I received one of the best support systems I've ever had living in this building. Between my all-female residents and the partners in this building, I have learned and grown so much from this experience and I will be forever thankful for this opportunity. My other favorite experience I had was during my Alternative Spring Break trip during my freshman year. Working with Habitat for Humanity really changed my life to say the least. Meeting the families and building their homes was heart wrenching, but nonetheless, their gratefulness outweighed every tear that was shed.  It's a wonderful feeling to know that I made a difference in someone's life.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the "Blue Room," or the Flynt Commons area. It is such a neat place to go and do work and the atmosphere is super relaxing. When you need a study break, Tim Horton's is right there to cheer you up with an Ice Capp! (My personal guilty pleasure!)

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why?  During my sophomore year of college, I had Ryan Blondo for biology. At first, I was terrified because biology scared me; however, he taught me how to connect the subject to my everyday life. Professor Blondo was committed to making learning fun and interactive. I appreciate his hard work and his devotion to teaching and to his students.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Joining Dance Corps has been my favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh. I have learned how to be part of a team and interact with various people. I have also acquired time-management skills, such as balancing my course-work with dance practice.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? I love Hawkins Pond. On a nice day, it is great to sit outside and relax! I can do my homework or read in a comfortable atmosphere!

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? By far, Nancy Parri is the most influential professor that I have had thus far. She teaches Organic/Biochemistry for Nursing students making a class that many thought to be dreadful, and turning it to be an exciting course. She would do anything to help her students to understand a concept, whether it be staying late at review class every week (‘Coffee and Chemistry’), coming up with jokes to break the frustration, or jump on a table to prove a point. My professor is someone who I will never forget and who I know I will be in contact with in my years at SUNY Plattsburgh.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? One of my favorite experiences thus far was when a few of the resident buildings came together to create a barbeque for the residents. It was a beautiful day and everything felt perfect; I jumped into a game of Frisbee that was going on outside of my building and had a great time playing outside in the beautiful weather with new people that I was able to meet. I stayed outside tossing a Frisbee for 5 hours that day and it was just a day I won’t forget.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? One of my favorite spots on campus is the ledge by the Hawkins pond. When the weather is nice, I like to sit outside and do my homework, or just wait between classes. It’s just a beautiful and serene place.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I found Dr. Chris Martine to be the most influential professor here at SUNY Plattsburgh because he is so passionate about what he does it makes me want to be just as passionate and enthusiastic about the work that I put in; not only in his class, but toward my education in general.
What has been my favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I would have to say the Freshmen Year Experience as a whole has been my favorite experience. I say this because it is nearly impossible for me to just pick one. All the events that I participated in, all the courses I have taken, the friendships that I've made and bond experiences (floor, building, clubs or otherwise) have shaped me into a new person. It has given me a sense of pride in who I am and how far I've made it here at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Where is my favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus would have to be the Sundowner for its great food and even better atmosphere, especially on the weekends for the late night weekend activities.

What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Playing soccer here has been a great experience for me, but the overall involvement with other people and clubs and activities on campus has really the best part about Plattsburgh - there is no individual experience that has been great because there have been so many!
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? I really like the ACC because there is always so much going on, you are always seeing people that you know, and it gives off a real sense of community that makes Plattsburgh the campus that it is.

The majority of them are former elementary teachers themselves; therefore they can give us real-life stories and lessons they've learned through their own experiences.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? My favorite experience has been all my field work placements since freshman year. In the education program, you start out observing in a classroom during your first semester. I have been in a wide variety of age groups, educational levels, and schools around Plattsburgh.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why?  The most influential professor I have had is Dr. Mansfield of the psychology department. I took my first two psychology classes with him and he made class really interesting and fun. Because he helped spark my passion for the subject material, I ended up being his teacher's assistant for one of the classes and will be his TA again for the other class. He's so easy to talk to, and I highly recommend him for any student taking a basic psych class!
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I have had quite a few really great times here, but my favorite experience on campus was participating twice in the annual student performance called "Night of Nations." For two years, I have been able to perform international dances with my friends, and I can hardly wait for this year's show!
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus would have to be the ACC building as a whole, because I can go to the library and study and then hang out with friends in Burghy's near Subway and then go see a guest performer or comedian upstairs in the ballrooms all in the same building. I always find something to do when I step into the ACC.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Dr. Laurie Bergamini!  I had her for two classes (Mythology & Utopias in Literature) two different semesters last year and she always forced me to think beyond my comfort zone.  Both of her classes taught me to look at things in a different way than I'm used to.
What has been my favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Being in ResLife!  This is my first year so I'm very new to it but I love my role as an RA in First Year Housing.  It's already been a rewarding experience and I've learned to be accepting of people no matter what.  I also love the friends that I've made within the ResLife staff--it's a very unique group of people!

Campus Activities: Honors Program, Intramural Sports, Hall Council, College Theater Association (CTA), Skiing
Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Dr. Battigelli in the English department has been the most influential professor I've had at Plattsburgh. Since the first day of the writing class I took with her, her opinion has meant a lot to me. As a writer, she has challenged me to push myself. She implores me to never coast through school, but to keep working hard to hone my skills as much as possible. This type of advice has carried over to our discussions about more general topics, such as what I might do after graduation. She praises and compliments me where appropriate, but never fails to keep me sharp and determined.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I've had a bunch of favorite experiences at SUNY Plattsburgh, but one in particular that comes to mind is my time spent in the Honors Program, both as a student and a President of the Honors Student Association. As a member of the HSA, I've gotten to see how the Honors Center functions. I've also had the opportunity to plan several fun events for the students in the program. As a student, I've taken a few seminars, the most memorable being Alienation, Liberation, and the Discovery of Zen. My learning in the seminar went beyond the classroom; I found myself thinking about Zen every day as a result of the conversations I had with the other students in the class.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the area under the trees between the river and the Saranac Trail. When I sit there, I don't feel like I'm on a college campus, let alone in a city. It's a great spot to go to relax and shake off stress.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Jean Mockry is the most influential professor I have had at SUNY Plattsburgh. Not only is she my teacher for Education, but she is my Academic Advisor too. She is extremely helpful and cares so much about not only our educational needs, but our personal needs as well. She makes it known that her office is always open and she is always willing to sit down and discuss anything and everything with us.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I was lucky enough to have the chance to live with an International Student here at SUNY Plattsburgh and it was the most rewarding experience for me. Not only was I learning new things in college from all my classes, but I was learning new things from my roommate as well.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is Samuel D's cafe in Sibley Hall. As an education major, I spend a lot of time in Sibley and Sammy D's is in the perfect spot to stop in between classes to get a coffee and sit down to do work.

Who is the most influential professor or faculty member you have had here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? Hands down Marco Turco! This man is amazing and I recommend him to everyone. I took one of his classes in the fall of my sophomore year and loved it. My goal is to take every class he offers. I have taken 3 already and have 1 more to go. He is a full-time farmer, part-time professor with his doctorate. He is originally from Italy and has fought in numerous African Wars. This man has changed learning for me. I have never been so enthusiastic about attending class, until I met Mr. Turco. His sole goal is for his students to take away something from his lessons. All of his classes are very interactive.  He teaches us things that most American's don't know, but should. This is because of what our media hides from us; thus creating an ignorant nation. His classes have changed me as a person and have increased my interest in foreign affairs, in Africa especially.
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? I love any experience that I share with kids in my major. HRTM is such a fun major and the professors here are just as excited to teach about the business as we are to learn it. The classes are fun and interesting and everyone in my major is so friendly. I also enjoy any moment at the gym with my trainer, Matt and any extra classes that I participate in there. In conclusion I love Plattsburgh because there is so much to do here inside and outside. We are surrounded by the Adirondacks and two beautiful bodies of water (that I fish on).
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? I love the trail behind Wilson. It’s nice because the river is right there and it’s a cute little trail that connects me with nature. It's a great way to end a long run around campus!

She teaches CLG 402 and 403 as well as works for the counseling graduate program. Julie is extremely down to earth and makes her students feel comfortable, confident, and engaged. She has great stories and an amazing teaching strategy. Julie has made me realize that I am 100% sure that a counseling career is what I want after I graduate!
What has been your favorite experience here at SUNY Plattsburgh and why? My favorite experience thus far at SUNY Plattsburgh has been being a Resident Assistant since my sophomore year.  Being an RA has allowed me to meet and interact with a huge portion of our campus and build relationships with individuals I may have never met without this position. It has helped me get involved, make a difference, and grow into the person I am today.
Where is your favorite spot on campus and why? My favorite spot on campus is the courtyard outside of the low rise residence halls. This is an extremely popular place for students to relax, play sports, get some work done, and just chill out with others. In between classes and homework, having some fun outside is always nice!
