- About Plattsburgh
Hello Everyone! I am thrilled to be a part of the staff of the Global Education Office. It is an honor to serve all of the international students of SUNY Plattsburgh.
Academic credentials: BS in Business Administration and Multiple Subject Teaching Certification from California State University Long Beach, currently pursuing a Masters degree in the MALS - Leadership Program at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Personal biography: Before coming to Plattsburgh, I served as an English teacher, chief residential life supervisor, orientation assistant director, and a program coordinator at Keio Academy, a Japanese boarding school in Westchester, New York. I became connected with Keio Academy after teaching in Japan for two years. Prior to those two amazing years, I lived, worked, and studied in various places in the western United States as well as Oxford, England. My passions are education and exploration.
Places I have visited: I have been lucky enough to visit several countries throughout Asia and Europe. I studied in Oxford, worked in Japan, volunteered in The Philippines, and explored India, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. I am eager to make this list longer!
Favorite SUNY Plattsburgh activity: The PICL activities and ISS outings are always fun!
Favorite experience as an ISS staff member: Working with students to achieve their goals here at SUNY Plattsburgh and in the US is very rewarding.
Best advice for prospective international students: Be yourself! Of course, if you choose to study at SUNY Plattsburgh, managing your time and academic schedule and staying organized and informed is very important (and made easier with the help of the GEOstaff!). Studying abroad is a life-changing experience and a test of your strengths and capabilities. But if you have enough courage to take that test, you are guaranteed not to fail.
