About the Theatre Program

Get Involved in Theatre at SUNY Plattsburgh

The theatre program offers abundant opportunities for student involvement in production and performance. The typical season includes two or three main stage productions, a dance production and several additional offerings, such as performances by our student improvisation group, Strange Bedfellows. Additionally, the College Theatre Association, the student group, independently mounts a number of events every year including collections of student-written work. The department produces a musical theater production approximately every two years.

No Experience? No Problem!

All roles and all support positions are open to everybody: there is no "theatre clique" or pecking order to determine who plays major roles, who directs, who designs and so on. Little wonder that theatre students find the department more like a large extended family than an academic workplace.
