Childhood Education Field Placements

Field placement activities include working in community settings as well as working in elementary schools grades 1 - 6. There, you will be able to explore teaching as a profession by working with experienced classroom teachers. In addition, you will be able to ;participate in a series of conversations with allied professionals (e.g., reading specialists/literacy coaches, speech-language pathologists, school counselors, school psychologists).

  • You will focus on the development of skills and strategies that promote learning for all students.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop skills to become a thoughtful, self-directed professional — a teacher who will be child-centered and culturally sensitive.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop your skills through all of the childhood education courses with built in extensive field experience.
