The Computer Science Program Changed My Life for the Better

"The Computer Science program at Plattsburgh State gave me a good foundation for programming and analytical skills that allowed me to be competitive when I entered the job market. I think that the program has a great set of core foundation courses, teachers who go out of their way to help students learn, and a flexible upper level curriculum.

"I was hired in my final semester at Plattsburgh State by the I.S. department of Schonbek Worldwide Lighting, a manufacturer of high-end crystal chandeliers. I have enjoyed my job as a Programmer/Analyst tremendously, and for that I am partly indebted to the great education I received while at Plattsburgh. The program also increased my interest in technology and computers, and motivated me to start on my Masters. In December I will graduate with a Masters in Information Technology with a concentration in Database Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. For me the Computer Science program at Plattsburgh State was a great learning experience that completely changed my life for the better."

I Plan to Use My Education for the Betterment of Developing Nations

"While at Plattsburgh State, I worked on a number of exciting research projects ranging from computer networking and security to artificial intelligence. After graduation, I've worked as a network administrator and software developer. Currently I'm pursuing graduate studies in computer science at Columbia University with an emphasis on computer networks. My career plan is to utilize information and communication technologies for the betterment of developing nations. My inspiration is my beautiful and accomplished wife Nazia Habib-Mintz, whom I met at Plattsburgh State."

Personal Contact with Faculty Members Played A Pivotal Role In My Intellectual Development

"I chose Plattsburgh State for the quality of education, size of the institution, and extracurricular activities. The computer science education at Plattsburgh State gave me the skills and knowledge to excel in both industrial and advanced academic contexts. The size of Plattsburgh State's student body allowed personal, one-on-one contact with faculty members, which played a pivotal role in my intellectual development. I also enjoyed the breadth of Plattsburgh State's resources by studying classical guitar and participating in the National Student Exchange program. If you are interested in outdoors activities, the Adirondack Park is Plattsburgh's backyard, which offers ample opportunities for hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, and water sports."
