- About Plattsburgh
Michael Jon Luciano is from Ballston Lake, New York and is a senior in the Business program.
Three faculty members that stand out above all the rest are Mr. Arthur Tucker, Dr. Greg Gregoriou and Mrs. Susan Steele. They offer much more than a seat in a lecture hall. These three individuals ensure that I get the most out of the business program; and I'm sure they will continue to do so after my tenure has expired. Whether I need information regarding internships, more information about the "future's market," or how to complete the requirements for my degree early, they never hesitate and are always sincere with their efforts.
I interned for the Office of the Ways and Means representing the Republican Party. My primary job was to provide valid, relevant, and reliable information to the assemblymen. The sections I was personally responsible for where the areas of Higher Education; very relevant under my circumstances, and Economic Development; an interest to me. The primary job characteristic of the Ways and Means office though, when I was interning, was to pass the budget on time; which was accomplished. Through hard work, late nights, and compromise between Republican and Democrats, a budget was passed on schedule; which was a precedent not met in as many as 15 years.
After graduation my primary focus is to gain experience within the financial arena. I have been given the opportunity to do so through a possible job with the investment bank giant Merrill Lynch. Also, I have always wanted to attend graduate school and will make plans to do so simultaneously.
Above all, I strongly recommend that each student with in the Business curriculum pursue an internship. The experience necessary to enter the work force is provided not only by the classroom setting, but also a place where one can apply those skills learned in a real-world environment.
