SUNY Plattsburgh Pick-Up Ice Hockey Sports Club

About the Pick-up Ice Hockey Club and the club's operating guidelines

The pick-up ice hockey club was formed to provide the opportunity for both men and women non-varsity ice hockey players to play pick-up games usually two times a week. Members pay $25.00 dues each semester to offset the cost of ice time. Funded by Student Association.

Rules and Guidelines

Membership

Must be a full-time SUNY Plattsburgh student and each member must have a signed SUNY Plattsburgh Sports Club SUNY Plattsburgh Participation Agreement/Liability Waiver Form on file to participate. If under 18 years of age, liability form must be signed by parent.)  Each member is responsible to carry personal health insurance. Each club member will be responsible for the $25.00 club dues each semester. All members are expected to follow regulations stated in SUNY Plattsburgh Sports Club Program Manual.

PLEASE NOTE: All participants must complete participant information and waiver forms which may be downloaded here.  These forms cannot be submitted online but must be completed, printed out, signed, and then submitted to team leaders before one can participate in the program.

Schedule times

The club will be scheduled for ice times in both the fall & spring semesters One and one-half time periods are scheduled two times a week after Columbus break in October -to December in the fall & January until March break in the spring. No times will be scheduled during college breaks or finals week.

Uniforms and Equipment

All participants have have their own hockey equipment and must be fully geared to play. (Helmets, FULL face masks, protective gear , pads including shoulder, etc.). No locker rooms or lockers are provided at the Fieldhouse to store playing gear and equipment.

Safety

A minimum of three club members will be required to serve as safety officers for club. They will be responsible for the general safety of all club members during practices and must have valid CPR/First Aid certifications. At least one safety officer must attend all practices Safety officers are responsible for attending to injured participant consistent with CPR/FA standards until trained medical personnel have arrived.

Finances

Student Association monies are used for ice rental at the fieldhouse with the the dues each member must pay will help to off-set the cost of ice time.  Times will be designated to register, sign form and pay dues. (Dues paid by check must be made out to Plattsburgh Student Association).

Student Leadership Responsibilities

At least one leader is required to be in attendance for any scheduled ice time.

Student leaders will:

  1. be CPR/FA certified.

  2. meet with the Recreational Sports Director (RSD) for orientation at the start of each semester. A copy of the club’s operating guidelines will be reviewed at the orientation. Waiver form must be submitted and dues paid for a member to participate in the club. Club/Organization Semester Registration and Directory forms must be submitted to the RSD each semester.

  3. not allow a student to participate in unless appropriate form has been submitted and dues paid.

  4. will submit a roster of club members with dues to Recreational Sports Director prior to first scheduled ice time. NO FORM/NO PAY - NO PLAY policy will be strictly enforced.

  5. must be present at every scheduled ice time. (At least one leader and  one safety officer)

  6. not allow a student to participate unless fully geared.

  7. will not allow an injured player to continue or return to participate without a release from qualified medical personnel.
