Frequently Asked Questions About Odyssey Program

Registration Deadline: July 31, 2014

Can You Explain Odyssey In More Detail?

Answer: Odyssey is an adventure based program for incoming first-year students only. It offers a memorable approach to the transition to college life through group experiences offered in outdoor settings. After New Student Orientation, Odyssey can be the unique next step to becoming part of the SUNY Plattsburgh community. Odyssey includes hiking and climbing in the Adirondack peaks, spending a day on a ropes course, and paddling on nearby lakes and rivers. You will stay at a camp and sleep in cabins. You will meet many new friends. The new relationships you build in Odyssey will help ease you into your first year as a college student and open your eyes to an experience you'll never forget. You'll also get an introduction to the natural environment of your new backyard.

What Amenities Are at the Camp?

Answer: There is a fully equipped dining hall with running water.  There are bathrooms with toilets, sinks and showers.

Do I Need to Have Outdoor Experience?

We provide the training along the way, seek help from those with experience, and create our own adventures! We hope participants are in good physical condition for their own and others' safety, but that's it!
