Student Support Services Mathematics Skills Specialist

Hello! My name is Anne Petro and I am a Math Skills Specialist at Student Support Services. I teach Elementary College Math and Calculus, as well as provide tutorial services for eligible students. I am also an academic advisor for students with undeclared majors.

Hometown: Chateaugay, NY

Courses Taught: Elementary College Math, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Trigonometry, and Statistics.

Professional/Personal Biography: I graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1986 with a B.A. in Mathematics. I spent a summer at Smith College in 1986 completing some graduate courses in teaching Mathematics, and then taught at Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh until 1989.

After leaving Mount Assumption to get married and return to graduate school, I accepted the position to teach at Student Support Services. I have been here for over 18 years. In addition, I have been an adjunct lecturer for the Math department since 1995, taught for the Educational Opportunity Program, and the Center for Lifelong Learning. In 1992, I earned my M.S. in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh.

I have had the privilege of working with many wonderful students who are willing to work hard to achieve their goals and determined to succeed in college!
