Feinberg Library to Host Readings of Banned and Challenged Books

08:20pm EDT, 28 Sep 2012

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2012) – SUNY Plattsburgh students and faculty will read selections from books that have been banned or challenged at some time in history during Feinberg Library’s first-ever Banned Books Read-Out Wednesday, Oct. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. in the library’s third-floor reading room.

Members of the campus and community are invited to attend at any time during the two-hour read-out, which is being held in conjunction with the American Library Association’s 2012 Banned Books Week.

According to the association, “Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.”

For more information on the read-out, contact Cerise Oberman, 518-564-5184 or at obermacg@plattsburgh.edu.
