SUNY Plattsburgh has a plan.
And now, evidence of that plan has taken over a wall of Flynt Commons, otherwise known to alumni as the Blue Room.
Nearly 83 feet of graphic design cover that wall from floor to ceiling and announce the “Big Plan on Campus” and its priorities:
“The design is big because the Campus Plan is big,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs James Liszka. “It was developed after a yearlong process and more than 45 focus groups both on and off campus, so we think it really reflects who we are and what we’re about. It is our map to fulfilling our potential, and, if we are to truly follow that map, we need these priorities kept front and center in the minds of faculty, staff and students.
"Given this central location, this graphic design will help us do that. We think it's tasteful and communicates the message well: SUNY Plattsburgh is all about student success."
The graphics were designed by Sarah Richard ’02, assistant director of creative services at the college. Richard said that the whole Marketing and Communications Office played a role in the project, brainstorming and helping to come up with ideas.
Then, she and Executive Director of Marketing and Communications Bryce Hoffman took a tour of the campus. Hoffman noticed the wall, and the ideas fell into place.
