Graduate Assistantship Openings in Environmental Science/Natural Science

Position One: Teaching Assistantship 

This position is filled for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This graduate teaching assistantship position provides a tuition scholarship (in-state rate) and a stipend/salary of $5,320 for the 2013-2014 academic year. The graduate assistant will serve as a teaching assistant for up to 3 laboratory sections per semester in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science laboratory courses. No lecture duties are expected.

Duties

  • Confer regularly with the lecture instructor about the labs in order to insure continuity between lecture and lab.
  • Prepare laboratory materials, laboratory handouts, and assignments.
  • Teach laboratory sessions and grade assignments in the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Preference is given to students enrolled in the M.S. in Natural Science program.
  • The student must have sufficient background to teach the courses specified for each semester.

Position Two: Research Assistantship 

This position is filled for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This graduate research assistantship position provides a  tuition scholarship (in-state rate) and a stipend/salary of $5,320 for the 2013-2014 academic year. The graduate assistant will serve as a research assistant for the Lake Champlain Research Institute and assist with funded research.

Duties

  • Support ongoing lake Champlain plankton monitoring
  • Develop a thesis research project on Lake Champlain limnology
  • Support ongoing Lake Champlain Research Institute projects as needed in other areas.

Qualifications

  • Preference is given to newly accepted students enrolled in the M.S. in Natural Science program.
