Why Zhejiang Wanli University?

SUNY Plattsburgh has a study abroad agreement with Zhejiang Wanli University in Ningbo, China. Through this agreement, you may apply to attend this institution for a semester or academic year. The courses you take at this institution will be converted to SUNY grades and credits when you return to the U.S.

  • Terms: fall (September - January), spring (February - July).
  • Eligibility: must be enrolled in a U.S. college or university; minimum 2.8 GPA.
  • Credits: 12-15 undergraduate per semester.
  • Application deadlines: April 15 for fall, October 1 for spring.  All application materials must be received or postmarked by the deadline.

You must submit the SUNY Study Abroad Application to the Global Education Office at SUNY Plattsburgh by the deadline listed above.

Courses at ZWU

The vast majority of courses at ZWU are taught in Chinese, however there are several courses that are taught in English. Some of the courses taught in English are:

  • Practices and Operations in International Trade
  • Marketing, World Trade Organization and China's Foreign Trade
  • Introduction to Economics, Understanding Chinese International Relations and Its Foreign Policy Making
  • Chinese Culture
  • International Finance

  • International Communications and International Business Negotiation
  • International Commercial Law

Accommodations

Students will live on or near campus in affordable furnished apartments with TV, telephone, bathroom, hot water, air conditioner, washing machine, refrigerator, and kitchen utensils. Electricity, water and phone, gas and internet costs will be paid by the student according to actual consumption.

Location

ZWU is a new and impressive university, renown for its green campus and friendly atmosphere. Ningbo is a bustling city of over two million, the second largest port in China and is located just south of Shanghai. Fueled by the stunning economic growth of the past 20 years, it is a vibrant city that Westerners seldom visit. It thus offers students a special opportunity to learn about the new realities of China today and to be immersed in a new culture.
