- About Plattsburgh
The fitness and wellness leadership major is an extensive program that combines 5 areas of study to give you many career options. You will be able to work as a personal trainer, fitness professional, health/fitness manager, and business owner. You will also be prepared to enter graduate school programs in exercise science and could develop a career path to become a future educator working in a college or university setting.
Our two minors offer students the opportunity to combine with their major either an area of study in coaching, personal trainer or outdoor studies.
The physical education elective program offers courses that let you experience new activities that encourage a wellness lifestyle for college credit.
The Department of Sport and Wellness administers a wide variety of student life recreational sports and fitness programs including non-credit programs in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Training and supervises the athletic facilities on campus. We are also one of the largest employers of students on campus.
