This program offers guaranteed acceptance to college sophomores — without having to take the MCAT. Successful applicants finish their undergraduate work at SUNY Plattsburgh and then begin at SUNY Upstate Medical the fall after graduation.
The admission requirements are a GPA of 3.5 (including having taken at least 3 of the 4 basic science requirements) and SAT scores of 1300 or better (ACT of 29). The application also includes a personal statement and goals for the remaining 2 years of undergraduate education.
The acceptance rate for this program is very high. They receive approximately 100 applications per year and accept 25. This is 4 times better than their acceptance rates for general admission.
