Experience

Mr. Kretser spent six years working as an Aerospace Engineer, Orbital Analyst, and Spacecraft Controller for several commercial spacecraft firms designing rocket launch trajectories and satellite transfer orbit missions. He was a member of flight teams responsible for launching and piloting spacecraft to orbit including DirectTV1R, Sirius Satellite Radio, XM Radio, NASA Goes-N, Astra 1-G, and Bonum. Mr. Kretser was also a flight team member for the first geosynchronous commercial satellite launch from a sea based launch vehicle, called Sea Launch.

After leaving the commercial sector, Mr. Kretser joined the faculty at Clinton Community College as an Adjunct Professor, where he taught introductory mathematics courses. He was appointed to an administrative position as the Senior Learning Skills Coordinator of the Tutoring Center where he was instrumental in redesigning the center and creating the Math Lab.

In 2009 Mr. Kretser transitioned to public education through the Master of Science for Teachers program at Plattsburgh State University. He was employed by the Beekmantown Central School District with the task of reinventing the physics program. During his three years with the district, Mr. Kretser redesigned the program to include digital data collection, computer analysis, and comprehensive laboratory activities.

Activities

Mr. Kretser is interested in space science and exploration, particle physics, audio electronics, music, and building computers. When time permits, he enjoys playing drums and harmonica. Mr. Kretser enjoys kayaking, hiking, sailing, motorcycling, and camping with his wife and two young children.
