Philosophy for Kids North Country Newsletter

The first issue of our newsletter was sent out to the students, teachers, and parents in March 2011. The monthly newsletter will update our local community about activities and events related to doing philosophy with kids, grades K-12.

Philosophy Discussion Series at the Plattsburgh Public Library

Students enrolled in Dr. Dixon’s Philosophy for Children course will lead philosophy discussions with Middle School students at the Plattsburgh Public Library, on Tuesdays March 8th – April 5th, 3:30 – 5:00.

  • March 1: Introducing Philosophy for Kids (for Parents) 6:30 – 7:30
  • March 8: Will the Real Me Please Stand Up (Avatars and On-Line Gaming)
  • March 15: What Should a Good Friend Do? (Puzzles and Problems about Friendship)
  • March 22: Introducing Tiktok, The Machine Man: Thinks, Speaks, Acts—Does Everything but Live! (Artificial Intelligence)
  • March 29: What Does it Mean to “Play Fair”? (Games and Sports)
  • April 5: How Do I Know What is Beautiful? (People, Art, and Nature)
