Major in Nutrition

Our Nutrition Major Allows You To:

  • Learn about foods, foodservice management, and the science of nutrition
  • Prepare for careers in nutrition, food service systems management, and related areas
  • Be eligible for American Dietetic Association approved internships and master's programs
  • Be eligible to become a Dietetic Technician

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nutrition (42-46 credits)

Practicum and internship candidates are expected to follow the external and professional practicum guidelines appropriate to their discipline (please refer to specific department/program student/internship manual for details).

Benefits of the B.S. in Nutrition

This program meets the academic requirements for registered dietitian status. To take the registration exam, attainment of the college degree must be followed by supervised professional experience obtainable through the American Dietetic Association-approved or accredited programs such as dietetic internships and master's degree programs. Students may apply for admission to such programs in their senior year or after working in the nutrition field.

Program Requirements

The 42-46 credit hours of Major Requirements combines theory and practical course work.
