- About Plattsburgh
The nutrition program prepares you for careers in clinical dietetics, nutrition counseling, community health, food service management and related areas. Our program also provides you with a strong foundation in sciences, technology and information literacy. It includes many of the science courses required by most medical programs. By completing additional course work you can combine this major with a pre-medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapist, physicians assistant or pre-pharmacy program.
The mission of the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at SUNY Plattsburgh is to graduate students who are successfully prepared to enter a dietetic internship, graduate program or employment in clinical, community, or food service settings.
SUNY Plattsburgh's Nutrition Program is a Didactic Program in Dietetics accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). “The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), formerly known as the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) is the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ accrediting agency for education programs preparing students for careers as registered dietitians (RD) or dietetic technicians, registered (DTR). ACEND serves and protects students and the public by assuring the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs.”Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics — www.eatright.org
