A nurse since 1977, and nurse practitioner since 1981, I find myself a "jack-of-all-trades" in nursing. Feel free to review my resume. My interest in informatics led me to begin my doctorate in Information Science, completing it in 2007 in Health Administration. I am also quite interested in healthcare applications of handheld devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), and in the future of voice recognition in healthcare.
My research interest is in the lifetime medical record. It's not enough to get medical records onto computers — we must be able to search those records for outcomes relative to the therapies employed. This must include outpatient visits, also. With over 15% of our GDP spent on healthcare, it's a challenge whose time is now.
