Apply for Admission to Our Music Programs of Study

Where Do I Begin?

We want to make applying to our music programs of study at Plattsburgh State as easy as possible.

The content on this page will help prospective students to understand the steps involved in applying to a program of study.

The Application Process

In order to be accepted into a music major, minor, or concentration program, you will need to follow a three-step application process:

Step 1: Apply for Admission to Plattsburgh State

The Admissions Office handles your academic application to the college. We suggest you visit the Admissions Office online to learn more about how to apply: www.plattsburgh.edu/admissions/apply.php

Step 2: Applying for Admission to Music Program of Study

How to Apply to the Department of Music
You also will apply through the Music Department before you are formally accepted as a music major, minor, or concentration.

• Application for Music Audition: Students interested in auditioning for either the major, minor or concentration at Plattsburgh State are required to complete and return this document.
  • Download Application for Music Audition Form (pdf file size 26.2kb).
• Teacher Reference Form: This form allows students and teachers to document the applicant's experience and strengths in detail.
  • Download the Teacher Reference Form (pdf file size 93.7kb).

Note: these files require Acrobat Reader, which is available as a free download.

Once you have completed these forms, please send them to:

Note: Students may apply for admission to the music program at anytime. Many of our students transfer from other majors.

Step 3: Music Audition/Interview

You will need to audition through the Music Department before you are formally accepted into our three programs of study (major, minor, concentration).

Upon completion of the Application for Music Audition form, we will contact you to schedule your audition.
