Army ROTC scholarships are highly competitive, merit based scholarships which are designed to lessen the financial burden of higher education to those who qualify. Army ROTC 4-year Scholarships and 3-year Advanced Designee Scholarships are available at the University of Vermont and its Partner Colleges. Applicants can apply during their senior year of high school at www.goarmy.com/rotc.
On-campus scholarships are also available to qualified applicants (both those already enrolled in ROTC and those not yet enrolled) through annual competition. These scholarships pay up to $20,000 annually for tuition, a flat-rate for books (presently $450 per semester), a tax free stipend worth up to $500 per month while in school, and up to $400 for certain on-campus educational and laboratory fees.
Scholarships are available for both students who wish to become Active Duty officers, as well as those who desire to serve in the Army National Guard or Army Reserves. National Guard and Reserve scholarships are called Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) scholarships.
Non-scholarship ROTC students who contract may receive a stipend worth up to $500 tax free per month. They are also eligible to join the Army Reserves and Army National Guard through the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP).
