Certificate in Multimedia Journalism (15 credits)

For post-graduate working professionals, this certificate program retrains newspaper, magazine and broadcast journalists in the region to be contemporary multimedia journalists. This 15-credit program equips working professionals with a flexible skill set and a solid knowledge about how to work with digital and online media platforms.

Students learn how to combine the stories they report and write with images, video and sound to create engaging journalistic pieces in an interactive, digital environment. Students take multimedia-specific courses in which they

• design and produce websites
• create multimedia projects utilizing broad-based digital skills that include the use of software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Freehand, Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Vegas Moviestudio, Final Cut Pro HD, and Audacity; and the use of various external hardware including audio and video recorders, digital video cameras lighting kits, and video transfer decks
• gain practical experience through class projects
