A Human Development & Family Relations Degree is Highly Relevant to a Broad Range of Career Opportunities

Researchers noted that in the year 2000, three-fourths of all mothers with children were working outside of the home, ninety-percent in full-time jobs.

This trend indicates that there will be an increasing demand for high-qualified and affordable child care.

Approximately 25-30 percent of Human Development & Family Relations majors pursue advanced degrees in counseling, social work, psychology, law, public administration, or other related fields. Many others enter the job market immediately after graduation.

Graduates holding degrees in Human Development & Family Relations from Plattsburgh State are currently working in such diverse fields as:

• Family advocacy
• Child life specialist
• Crisis Center counseling
• Youth detention center case work
• Child care centers
• Nursing home activity direction
• Planned Parenthood education

Pursuing a Graduate Degree
