For the past 28 years, The Banff Mountain Film Festival had been celebrating the spirit of adventure and the mountain environment.
Each November, the world's best films on mountain themes draw an international audience to the town of Banff, Canada. From its grassroots beginnings in 1976 when approximately 450 people gathered to view 10 films, the festival now attracts audiences or more than 8,000 people to an event that sees over 260 films submitted from 29 countries.
Bringing together Art and the EnvironmentThe festival features film screenings, plus seminars, speakers, panel discussions, an adventure trade fair, a craft sale and a climbing wall.
The tour screens in locations ranging from Iqaluit, Baffin Island, to New York City and, of course, Plattsburgh. Internationally, audiences enjoy the tour in such cities as Santiago, Chile; Reykjavik, Iceland, and Bangalore, India. Overall, the tour reaches 200 cities in 25 countries.
