Lake Champlain Sea Kayak Institute (LCSKI)
Join In the Summer Fun On Lake Champlain
Date: July 13 - July 23, 2009
Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the eleventh annual Lake Champlain Sea Kayak Institute, Summer 2009! The program begins with our new Level II residential program from Monday, July 13 - Thursday, July 17. The popular 4-day Level I class runs the following week (July 20-23).
About Lake Champlain Sea Kayak Institute
"The Institute," as we've come to call it, is structured around a commitment to cutting-edge information, round-the-clock instruction and, of course, to fun.
As a part of our educational mission, "The Institute" offers education in all kinds of formats, from intentional to accidental, from formal instruction to serendipitous meetings.
Who Can Participate?
The Lake Champlain Sea Kayaking Institute is open to everyone - Plattsburgh State students and the public alike.
We now offer two separate programs so you can find the level of information and challenge appropriate to your background and goals.
2 Weeks - 2 Levels - 2 Programs!
Level I (July 20 - 23): For new paddlers or those with limited technical knowledge, this course has it all! Wet and dry entries and exits; self and assisted rescues, sweeps, draws, and rudder strokes; rolling-these and more are part of this four-day class. If that isn't enough, there are daily trips to Lake Champlain's beaches, islands, and bays.
Level II (July 13-19): This program is specifically designed for alumnae of our 4-day program or those with considerable technical knowledge or experience. This four and a half day "residency program" answers the question, "How do I do it better?" Join the staff for daily paddles and instruction on "The Lake" and evening training and events at our Twin Valleys base camp.
If you're new to the sport, we will train you and teach you the skills you need to pursue kayaking on your own. If you are an experienced paddler, join us to learn new techniques or refine old ones.
