Major in Accounting

Our Major in Accounting Will Allow You To

Bachelor of Science in Accounting (120 Credits)

After completing our program you can apply to sit for the CPA exam in New York State. (Note: Starting in September 2009, New York State CPA candidates will need to meet the 150 credit hour requirement.) You will also be in a position to pursue other professional certifications, such as Certified Management Accountants (CMA), Certified Financial Management (CFM), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). The accounting program also prepares you for graduate level studies, if you choose to do so.

Our degree requirements in accounting contain a strong business component, which makes it easy for an accounting major to earn a second major in business.

Program Requirements

Our B.S. in Accounting program requires a concentrated academic effort on your part, but the rewards are many. The program itself requires 74 credits of accounting, economics and management coursework. These requirements not only give you a strong foundation in accounting, but also insure that you can integrate your accounting knowledge into the world of business and economics. We don't require internships, but we strongly recommend that you allow some time for that experience during your junior or senior year.
