The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh is committed to regulatory compliance and pollution prevention. The campus conducts its affairs in a manner that safeguards the environment, health, and safety of students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Our mission includes:

  • Complying with environment, health & safety (EHS) regulations,
  • Minimizing environmental impacts,
  • Limiting occupational injuries and illnesses,
  • Responding to community concerns about EHS impacts,
  • Developing EHS plans and implementing actions to protect the well being of every person on campus.

Environmental Management System

The Environment, Health, and Safety Department is in the process of developing and implementing an Environmental Management System. A key element of this system is to provide the appropriate training to all employees and students to ensure competence and awareness of our environmental policies and procedures, the significant environmental impacts of their work or activities, their roles and responsibilities in support of our environmental management system, and the potential consequences of departure from specified procedures. As objectives and targets are identified and programs established to achieve them, environmental performance will be measured by monitoring key activities and tracking performance for continual improvement.
