Residence halls (also referred to as "dormitories") open early for new international students during Orientation. Please check our Orientation and Residence Hall opening schedule for information about when your room will be ready for your arrival.
Housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to accommodate all new students, it is sometimes necessary to house three students in a double room. This is called a "triple." If you are interested in living on campus, you should pay your deposit and submit the online housing application as soon as possible. To see what your student room might look like, view a 360-degree Virtual Room Tour of some of our residence hall rooms.
Read the information on our Travel to the U.S. page. You should arrive on campus no later than the Monday before classes begin for your first semester of enrollment. Please refer to the Academic Calendar to determine the correct date. If you have to arrive more than three days before international student orientation begins, you must stay at your own expense at one of the local hotels.
Download the International Health Form and fill it out with the help of your physician. Send the completed form and the immunization records to the address at the bottom of the form.
As soon as your travel plans are confirmed, fill out the Arrival Information Form. To find out how to get to Plattsburgh, refer to our Traveling to the U.S. page. We do not pick up students from New York, Boston, or Montreal. We provide free transportation from the bus station and train terminal in Plattsburgh to campus. In addition, we provide van transportation from Burlington International Airport in Burlington, Vermont for a $50 fee. If your travel plans change, call or email our office immediately.
During Orientation you will learn about academic and immigration requirements, pay your bill, open a bank account, adjust your schedule, meet your advisor and much more.
Download the copy below. Whenever you complete a step, check it off. When you have checked off all the items on the list, you are ready for International Orientation.
