Nutrition: the study of food and the human bodyPrepare for a Career in Dietetics and Nutrition

The nutrition program prepares you for careers in clinical dietetics, nutrition counseling, community health, food service management and related areas. The program provides you with a strong foundation in sciences, technology and information literacy. The nutrition major includes many courses required by most medical programs. By completing additional course work you can combine this major with a pre-medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapist, physicians assistant or pre-pharmacy program.

 

Our Nutrition Major Allows You To:

  • Learn about dietetics, the science of nutrition, health and well-being, exercise and nutrition, foods, and food service management
  • Develop your ability to be articulate, confident, flexible, ethically and socially responsible, and assume professional leadership roles
  • Complete the academic requirements to be eligible to apply for a dietetic internship to become a Registered Dietitian (RD), and/ or graduate school
  • Qualify to take the national Registration Exam for Dietetic Technicians to become a DTR (Registered Dietetic Technician)
  • Seek employment in clinical, community, or  food service settings
