- About Plattsburgh
Canadian studies has established an extensive and rich internship program for students, in addition to our degree and study in Canada programs. Opportunities for students with a junior class standing to work for a semester with businesses and government institutions in Canada and the United States are available.
In recent years, students have taken internships in Ottawa, Quebec City, Boston, and Plattsburgh. There are a number of Canadian businesses in Plattsburgh and in the region that provide internships to select students. In Ottawa, students have served as interns in the Canadian Parliament, at the Canadian War Museum, and at Foreign Affairs Canada. Students have also worked in Quebec City for the U.S. Consulate, in Boston at the Canadian Consulate, and in Washington at the Canadian Embassy. A few of our students with a fluency in French have also worked at the Canadian Consulate in Paris, France.
Canadian studies minors who plan to undertake an internship through the Canadian studies program are eligible to apply for an internship scholarship of up to $800 (U.S.). These scholarships also apply should a student wish to participate in an internship in conjunction with one of the study in Canada programs administered by the Center for the Study of Canada.
