More than 65 colleges, universities and graduate programs will be represented at the annual SUNY Plattsburgh Graduate and Professional Fair Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center.
The event is free to students and community members who are looking for information and guidance from graduate schools. It will feature programs that run the gamut from education to social work, law to medicine.
‘One of the Best Graduate Fairs’“We have what is considered one of the best graduate fairs in New York state based on the feedback we’ve received from participating schools,” said Marguerite Adelman, director, SUNY Plattsburgh graduate admissions.
“We’ve gotten a reputation across the state,” said Shelley Laurin, assistant in graduate admissions. “Word spreads, recruiters tell others. We have some 500 students attend our fairs. It gives them the opportunity to see there are so many graduate programs out there to choose from.”
“A lot of our students who’ve done more general undergraduate degrees don’t often realize the opportunities for a master’s or a Ph.D. beyond that,” Adelman said. “With more than 65 colleges, universities participating, we give students the chance to explore those opportunities.”
In addition to SUNY Plattsburgh, other participating colleges and universities include Albany Law School, Canisius College, Clarkson, Concordia University in Montreal, Rochester Institute of Technology, Syracuse University, Nazareth, Marist and St. John’s University, among others.
