SUNY Plattsburgh Guitar Ensemble Concert to be Held Dec. 3

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 17, 2014) — The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music will present a concert featuring the Guitar Ensemble with students of adjunct lecturer of music, Michael Fratino, Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m., E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.

The program will feature pieces from a variety of musical styles including contemporary, jazz and classical. Students will perform as soloists, in duos and in the larger guitar ensemble. 


Menotti Opera 'Amahl and the Night Visitors' to be Staged in Giltz Auditorium

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 14, 2014) — The Department of Music presents a fully staged production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.

This one-act opera, sung in English, tells the story of a young boy and his mother, who open their small house to the Three Kings en route to Bethlehem. Full of humor, joy, and tenderness, Menotti's opera will touch the hearts of audiences of all ages. Collaborating with Adirondack Dance Company, the all-student cast is drawn from SUNY Plattsburgh College Chorale and Cardinal Singers.



Annual Night of Nations Brings You 'Around the World'

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 14, 2014)  — The annual Night of Nations performance will kick off International Education Week this Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the E. Glenn Glitz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.

Night of Nations began several years ago as an “open-mic” style performance and has since evolved as one of the college’s most-anticipated events said Carolina De la Rosa, Global Education Office staff assistant and adviser to Night of Nations. 


SUNY Plattsburgh College Council to Meet Nov. 13

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 12, 2014) — The SUNY Plattsburgh College Council will hold its regular November meeting Thursday, Nov. 13 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center.

In addition to the regular reports President John Ettling, Chair Salvatore Graven and committee chairs, the council will hear a presentation by Yessenia Funes, student editor of DoNorth Magazine, and its faculty advisor, Luke Cyphers from the Department of Journalism and Public Relations.


SUNY Plattsburgh Ranked 'Best for Vets'

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 10, 2014) — Military Times ranked SUNY Plattsburgh among its top 100 “Best for Vets: Colleges 2015” for the second consecutive year among four-year colleges in the country.

Plattsburgh moved up from 77th to 70th in the armed forces publication published by Gannett Government Media. According to Military Times, the rankings factor in the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military students’ success rates.



Students Pull All-nighter '90s Style to Fight Cancer

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Nov. 6, 2014) — SUNY Plattsburgh students will stay up all night Saturday, Nov. 8 –– not to study –– but to celebrate their semester-long fundraising project “Up ’til Dawn.”

Although SUNY Plattsburgh students put on the event, everyone is welcome to attend. To receive invitations, groups of six must raise a total of $600. All donations are welcome.


'Words On Fire' Series

SUNY Plattsburgh Hosts Annual Fall Arts and Crafts Fair

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 29, 2014) — The 42nd annual fall arts and crafts fair at the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 9, beginning at 10 a.m. each day.

Admission to the fair is $3 for adults and free to children under 12 and SUNY Plattsburgh students. 


Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

All events are co-hosted by the SUNY Plattsburgh Anthropology Department, the Anthropology Club and the Multicultural Alliance.


Campus Alert Update

Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, 11 a.m. The Angell College Center and portions of the Myers Fine Arts Building and the Feinberg Library will be closed until at least 2 p.m. Tuesday.

This morning at approximately 9 a.m. Student Affairs staff noticed a sound coming from a mailbox located in the Angell College Center. Police were notified and responded.
