Miner Institute, Environmental Science Celebrate
40-Year Collaboration

As an environmental science major, Joe Thouin ’04 had what you might call a Miner obsession.

Now an environmental analyst with the Lake George Park Commission, Thouin spoke about that obsession at the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Applied Environmental Science Program at the W.H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute in Chazy this December. Read more.

Life on the Edge: Fear and Loathing in the Eastern Subarctic Archaic Period

An essay by Dr. Christopher Wolff.

The Maritime Archaic people who lived roughly 3,200 to 8,000 years ago in the Canadian Eastern Subarctic were living on the edge: the edge of inhabitable landscapes as the glaciers retreated; the borders of the earth as it disappeared into the cold North Atlantic waters; and the outer limits of human population on the North American continent.

In the early part of their occupation of the coasts of Labrador, there were no other people to their north or east; they were on the border of the known world and were voyagers into that unknown. Read more.

Making Waves:
Fishing Team Earns National Ranking

The college’s fishing team proved its prowess this past July, when student anglers Brendan Bolis and John McDougall took the $5,000 top prize in the FLW College Fishing Northern Conference qualifier on Lake Champlain.

Now, the team is gearing up for the national college tournament in Arkansas in April. Read more.
