Pursue a Career as a Creative ProfessionalThe Graphic Design program at Plattsburgh State offers courses that serve both the foundation Art major and advanced design students. The advanced level design courses provide a set of technical and conceptual skills that prepare the student for entering the highly competitive and specialized field of visual communications.
Graphic Design students gain expertise ranging from traditional tools and techniques in illustration to new, evolving digital technologies that provide them with the necessary means to become a creative professional. To develop their capabilities students are taught specific skills in typography, layout, publication and packaging, all emphasizing a creative, problem-solving approach that considers issues of branding, product positioning and target audiences.
A Macintosh based lab with professional design software provides students access to the tools of the commercial design studio in an academic setting.
