University Police at Plattsburgh

At Plattsburgh State we are very conscientious about understanding the concerns of today's students and their parents.

We know that personal safety and crime issues are at the top of the list of today's concerned citizens, students and their families.

Throughout the years we have taken measures, invested time and money into safety systems on campus.

We have our own law enforcement department on campus. We have officers on patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We also oversee the parking office and the locksmith services for the campus.

We act as most any Law Enforcement agency you are familiar with does.

We respond to:

• Medical emergencies
• Safety concerns
• Traffic
• Other emergencies

We enforce:

• New York State Penal Law
• Vehicle and Traffic Law
• City Ordinances
• Student Code of Conduct

We ask that the campus community:

• Registers with SUNY NY Alert

SUNY NY Alert is a mass notification system that sends emergency alerts. The system calls, text messages, e-mails and/or faxes an emergency notification to the contact information that individuals register with the system Registration for SUNY NY Alert must be completed annually.

Safety is a community effort and prevention is the number one means of stopping criminal activity. Please remember to do your part - Report suspicious persons or activities to University Police.
